I have had the pleasure of working with many amazing families, who have trusted me to support their young people through their educational journeys.
Our daughter has been deaf from birth but was not diagnosed until age 12. She had failed every hearing test from birth, but we, as parents were never referred anywhere. The diagnosis was a lightbulb moment for explaining all the funny mispronunciations she has always spoken. We had no clue what to do next! We of course informed the school, who were really unhelpful and offered no support at all for our daughter. We came to realise that funding and support at the school was heavily gate kept. An EHCP application was the only way to get the support we so desperately needed. The hunt was on. We found Ode, who is extremely knowledgeable on the laws and regulations around SEND and she immediately put our minds at ease. She understood our frustrations and we worked together on writing and education, heath and care plan application. Ode has been a great help and support and was able to provide follow up support when our daughter had two further diagnoses of visual impairment. We are finally equipped with the information, laws and regulations that can support our daughter in time for her GCSE studies and exams. As a family we would highly recommend Ode and are forever thankful for the support she has given us in unlocking the support and adjustments our daughter so desperately deserved, needed and is acrually entitled to.
We couldn't have wished for a more dedicated and knowledgeable person to help our son.
As foster carers for nearly a decade we have worked with many professionals in educational settings and in Ode we found the best, a passionate and determined advocate for young people.
She made sure the EHCP was correct and detailed and that all available provisions and services were explored, resulting in him being the happiest he has ever been in an educational setting.
Ode does everything from a bespoke standpoint, for the individual child, her practice is trauma informed, whilst remaining approachable and easy to talk to. We can't thank her enough . And you couldn't ask for a better person to have on a young persons 'team'.
We were literally literally lost when trying to work out how to approach the EHCP process and couldn't find help or support anywhere. Our daughter's school SEN lead did not have the time or experience to help. We reached out to Ode and she was able to complete the process for us against the time constraints of our daughter entering a significant transition stage of her education. Ode clearly has a huge amount of knowledge and practical experience as we have had confirmation from the local authority that they will be moving to assessment stage for our daughter's EHCP and this will make a significant difference for her transition to secondary school.
Our daughter has a diagnosis of ADHD, Autism and experience emotional based school avoidance (EBSA). Se finds it difficult to talk to professionals about her challenges and how she feels. Ode's neuro-affirmative approach meant she was able to build a relationship with her at ease due to her experience of neuro affirmative practice. Ode is very knowledgeable and experienced in working with young people experiencing EBSA and was able to share her extensive knowledge with us.
We will definitely being using Ode's services to help and support us through the remainder of this process, we have no doubt that we would be nowhere close to where we are now without her help.
